Tall travel & the pains therein

Are you 6' or over and in misery when you fly? Well, I am. I can't stand another flight where, before we even take off, the person seated in front of me glares at me because my knees are digging into his or her back.

HELLO? Like I'm trying to be rude.

It's annoying at best, dangerous and infuriating at worst. Here are some accounts of tall people getting DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) after being forced to cram themselves in seats that are not built for tall people.

And here is a website that can tell you the dimensions of different seats on different airlines.

I recommend, if possible, flying on Jet Blue as they have a range of seat accommodations that you can choose from when booking your ticket and don't have to be a Premium member.

For international I recommend Emirates Air http://www.emirates.com/.

Also, don't be shy to check in with the airline staff at the gate and explain that you are tall (in case they are blind) and in need of extra seating room. Sometimes they are implacable, but often will try to accommodate you if possible.
